Horiguchi Kiriko worked closely with Casio’s designers to produce a limited number of sapphire crystal bezels for their popular Oceanus range of watches.
Under the collaborative concept of ‘Tokyo Design’, Toru drew inspiration from the vast expanse of Tokyo Bay. The crescent blue and black bands of the bezel converge to form a horizon. A purposefully spaced pattern of meticulous cuts radiates out from the centre symbolising the early morning sun as it reflects and fragments over the surface of the Pacific Ocean.
This projects marks the release of the world’s first sapphire crystal wrist watch to bear the tradition and heritage of Edokiriko.
